Terms and Conditions

Notes about your voyage on our South Pacific Service
We really hope that you will enjoy your voyage thoroughly and that you will have many extremely pleasant memories of your time aboard one of our ships. For the sake of good order, we provide a few points that will be helpful.

SCHEDULE - Freighter itineraries, schedules, and ports of embarkation and disembarkation are subject to change owing to many factors, including but not limited to cargo and schedule requirements, local holiday observances, weather conditions, port congestion, and other factors beyond our control. Notice of changes will be given to you as soon as they become known.

DOCUMENTS - Please make certain that your tickets, International vaccination cards and valid passports with appropriate visas are in your possession at all times. Details regarding visa and vaccination requirements at our various ports of call are available from our passenger offices and agents.

THE SHIP - Your ship is your hotel in all ports of call for the duration of the cruise. Upon arrival at the final port of the cruise, you will be expected to disembark shortly after clearance by Quarantine, Immigration, and Customs officials. If arrival is late at night, you may - the ship's schedule permitting - remain on board until after breakfast the following morning. On those infrequent occasions when a ship needs to be in a shipyard for repairs or maintenance, you will be required to maintain yourself ashore at your own expense until the ship is able to receive you again. Baggage may be left aboard ship in the baggage room but for safekeeping, it is better that you take all your belongings ashore.

CURRENCY & EXCHANGE - Bar bills are usually settled at the end of each month. Bills can be paid in cash, by personal cheque or traveller's cheques. (no credit cards). Please note that Sterling or US Dollars are the only currencies accepted. Personal cheques can be cashed entirely at the Master's discretion as cheques for large amounts may not be cashed. For added security, you may place your money and other valuables in the Master's safe.

COMMUNICATIONS - Any tele-communications which you may require (telexes, emails, faxes, cables or telephone calls) can be provided, subject to the vessel's working requirements taking priority. You will be charged accordingly at cost.

LAUNDRY - A washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board are available for your use. Detergent can be purchased on board. There are no dry cleaning facilities on board; you may want to bring Woolite for fine washables.

BEVERAGES & CIGARETTES - Alcoholic beverages are available in a limited number of brands for purchase by the bottle or glass, while at sea. A limited number of brands of cigarettes are also available for purchase. You should advise us of any special canteen requirements in advance, in the event the ship can supply such requirements. Please be aware that the 'bond' is closed shortly before the ship enters a port. If you need liquor or cigarettes during a port stay, please purchase ahead of time from your purser, bearing in mind the local customs regulations.

ELECTRIC CURRENT - 220 volts, 50 cycles, standard continental 2 pin plug. If you plan to take 110 volt appliances on board, you must
also take a suitable transformer and adaptor plug. Hair dryers, electric kettles and short-wave radios are usually provided on board.

WASH CLOTHS - Wash cloths are not provided on board. Hand towels and bath towels are provided, as are facial tissues.

BOOKS & BROCHURES - A supply of brochures relating to various ports of call have been placed on board for reference. Similarly, a limited number of novels are also available and we encourage you to circulate these among your fellow passengers, once you have read them.

TOURS AND TRANSPORTATION - As previously mentioned, two free tours are included during the voyage. You will be notified of the place and time of these tours as far in advance as possible.

DRESS - Dress is mainly casual. However, you may change for dinner if you so choose. It is also advisable to bring suitable clothing for the Tropics and Northern European Winter, dependent upon season.
Please also note the following:
• Our vessels are working freighters whose primary function is to carry cargo. The vessel upon which you will be sailing is not as large as most passenger cruise vessels and neither does it incorporate many of the features to be found on board custom-built passenger liners.
• Our primary concern is the safety of passengers and consequently, we shall provide you, prior to your departure, with safety guidelines that concern our safety measures and your conduct while you are on board our vessel. Andrew Weir Shipping considers it essential that you acquaint yourself with these guidelines prior to your arrival on board the vessel. Thus, you will be deemed to be fully conversant with these guidelines and Andrew Weir cannot take any responsibility for any ignorance of any of the contents of the safety information guidelines or any consequence of such ignorance whatsoever. Once you are on board (or shortly thereafter) a duly appointed passenger liaison officer from our Company will re-acquaint you of the safety guidelines to be adopted while travelling as a passenger on our vessels.
• The vessel's departure dates, departure ports, ports of call and the duration of the passage may change considerably, not only prior to the voyage but while en route. While every effort will be made to notify you as soon as we are aware of an alteration or variation in the schedule, Andrew Weir cannot accept any obligation or liability to you resulting from such alteration or variation of whatsoever nature.
• You will receive a warm welcome and cordial hospitality from our officers and crewmembers. Indeed, they will be happy to answer any queries you may have and to help you wherever possible. However, please bear in mind that they also have important duties to perform to ensure a safe and pleasant voyage for all on board.
